
Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement with Middlesbrough to keep hold of loan star Djed Spence until the end of the season.
According to the Sun, Steve Cooper’s side have negotiated with their Championship rivals over the short-term future of the 21-year-old defender. And it has been decided that Spence will now stay with Forest for the remainder of the season.
The youngster, who was reportedly a target for Jose Mourinho during his time with Tottenham as per the Evening Standard, has been one of the breakout stars in the Championship this season at Forest.
Spence joined Forest loan in the summer and has kept his place in the starting XI for the majority of the season. And under Cooper, the club have a shot of returning to the Premier League for the first time since 1999.
Indeed, it is exciting times for Forest under their new manager, and keeping hold of Spence is a huge result for the Trentside club heading into the January transfer window.
With Chris Wilder now at the helm for Boro, it was expected that the former Sheffield United boss would recall Spence, however, the youngster will now remain with Forest until the summer.
