Arsenal have been holding off on announcing Folarin Balogun’s new deal because of the fallout surrounding the European Super League, so say All Nigeria Soccer.
The Gunners announced their intention to join the new Super League proposal on Sunday, causing major backlash from supporters.
Arsenal have now pulled out of the plans alongside five other Premier League clubs, and now need to try and mend the relations with their supporters.
It’s now claimed that Arsenal have been waiting for the right time to announce Balogun’s new deal because fans are angry after the ESL situation.
Balogun penned his new contract on April 9th, so we’re nearly at two weeks on, but it’s stated that Arsenal will announce the deal today at 10am.
Balogun’s new deal won’t completely appease fans, and why would it; the Gunners have attempted to join a closed-off league that goes against the idea of competition so intrinsic to football.

Yet this is ultimately a positive. The 19-year-old is a hugely exciting talent, having hit nine goals and three assists in 17 Premier League 2 games this season.
Balogun could have walked away for next to nothing with his contract just months away from expiring, but Arsenal have now moved to keep him.
With Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both out of action, Balogun could yet feature against Everton on Friday night, and his situation at least gives fans something to be happy about after a testing week.
