Leeds United are hoping to offload the Belgian on loan this summer, and it appears that he could end up in League One for the coming campaign.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (29/07; page 63), Leeds are looking to loan out Laurens De Bock for the coming campaign, and Fleetwood Town are interested in signing the Belgian on a temporary basis.

De Bock has endured a fairly difficult time since he arrived at Elland Road for £1.5 million during the January transfer window – fee reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

It initially appeared that the former Club Brugge ace would end Leeds’ left-back woes that had lingered since Charlie Taylor’s departure last summer. However, after a bright debut, the 25-year-old desperately struggled for form and was eventually replaced by Tom Pearce in the side.

Pearce’s form in the latter stages of the campaign and Barry Douglas’ subsequent arrival has left De Bock in an uncertain situation. The defender has featured on a few occasions under Marcelo Bielsa during pre-season – and performed well at times – but it appears that he may be on the way out of the club this summer.

The Sun on Sunday (29/07; page 63) reports that Leeds are ready to let De Bock head out on loan, and Joey Barton is hoping that he can convince the full-back to make the same move that Lewie Coyle made earlier in the window.

An initial spell at Highbury appears to have worked wonders for Coyle, who is unlucky that he is competing for a spot in the Leeds side where the Whites look very strong when Luke Ayling is fit.

De Bock is obviously a few years older than Coyle so regular first-team football may not have as great an impact when it comes to leading to improvement and development, but it would be little surprise if Leeds and De Bock himself jumped at the chance to discuss a deal with Fleetwood if the Cod Army do confirm their interest with a loan bid.
