Five Leicester City youngsters will be pushing for a Premier League debut over the next few weeks with the likes of Luke Thomas, Dennis Gyamfi and Viktor Johansson promoted to first-team training by Brendan Rodgers, the Mercury reports.
Even the biggest clubs in England are likely to have their squads stretched thin over the next few weeks.
Leicester and co will have to find a way to shuffle their pack during a gruelling run of nine games between now and the end of July, meaning a host of U23 starlets could find themselves thrown in at the deep end over the next month and a half.
What’s more, Foxes boss Rodgers has a superb track record when it comes to blooding fresh-faced prospects.
The likes of Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho, Kieran Tierney, Odsonne Edouard and Moussa Dembele all went from strength to strength his tutelage at Liverpool and Celtic.
According to the Mercury, Johansson, Gyamfi, Thomas, striker George Hirst and right-back Vontae Daley-Campbell (below) have all been given the chance to prove their worth alongside James Maddison, Jamie Vardy and co as Leicester gear up for ‘project re-start’.

Thomas, a homegrown left-back, could have the most to prove. After all, Leicester will field plenty of enquiries for Ben Chilwell this summer, meaning a place in Rodgers’ starting XI could soon open up.
Daley-Campbell and Hirst, meanwhile, are still searching for a first-team chance after joining from Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday respectively last year.
Gyamfi has been linked with a summer move to Rangers by the Daily Record. Steven Gerrard’s Gers have already raided Leicester once in recent times, luring Calvin Bassey to Ibrox.
