17-year-old sensation Aaron Ramsey could be set for an Aston Villa debut when Project Re-start gets underway with the Birmingham Mail reporting that the teenager is training with Dean Smith’s first-team squad.
Neither of the Ramsey brothers have made a first-team appearance yet in that iconic claret and blue kit. But after both Aaron and Jacob enjoyed stand-out 2019/20 campaigns, that could soon change.
Jacob, the older of the siblings, really caught the eye during a loan spell at Doncaster Rovers, scoring three times in seven matches while conjuring up comparisons with a young Dele Alli during his formative years at MK Dons.
Aaron, at just 17, remained at Bodymoor Heath under the watchful eye of Villa’s coaches.
With nine goals and assists in just 13 matches in the U18 Premier League, the England youth star could be about to beat his older brother in the race for a first-team bow in Aston Villa colours.
The Birmingham Mail reports that Ramsey, who shares a goalscoring streak with his Welsh international namesake, has been strutting his stuff alongside Jack Grealish, Tyrone Mings and co since Smith’s charges returned to full-contact training.
But he is not the only fresh-faced talent who has caught the manager’s eye.
Louie Barry, a prolific, 16-year-old striker who joined in January from Barcelona, could also be in line for a Premier League debut between now and the end of the season.
Mungo Bridge, Tyreik Wright and Kaine Kesler are also under consideration, alongside 21-year-old Jack Clarke (below).
