According to Corriere Dello Sport, Lucas Torreira may be given a route out of Arsenal by Fiorentina, who want to beat Lazio to his signature.

It’s claimed that Fiorentina want to sign a new midfielder this summer and now have four names on their wish list as things stand.

Inter Milan’s Stefano Sensi, Niklas Dorsch of Gent, free agent Matteo Ricci and Arsenal misfit Torreira are thought to be the men in question.

The report notes that Lazio still want to sign Torreira, and Fiorentina would take ‘great satisfaction’ in hijacking their Italian rivals with a deal for Torreira.

The Uruguayan midfielder has excelled in Serie A before with Sampdoria, and could end up back in Italy given that he has no future under Mikel Arteta.

Signed by Sven Mislintat in the summer of 2018, Torreira has never really convinced Arteta and spent last season out on loan at Spanish champions Atletico Madrid.

Torreira will surely be sold this summer with Arsenal desperate for funds, but whether Fiorentina can cough up the cash remains to be seen.

That both Fiorentina and Lazio want Torreira is at least encouraging for Arsenal, as they may now have hope for some form of bidding war for a player Arteta clearly doesn’t want.
