As per a report by 90 Min, Fiorentina have decided not to sell World Cup sensation Sofyan Amrabat in January, who has generated interest from Liverpool.

Foot Mercato have claimed that Jurgen Klopp even spoke to the 26-year-old’s representatives about joining the Reds.

However, the all-action midfielder was reportedly focusing entirely on the World Cup with Morocco.

Sky reporter Florian Plettenburg even tweeted that the in-demand midfielder, who is also a Tottenham target could be available for a €30 million (£26 million) fee.

Interestingly, it was also stated that the 26-year-old himself was open to bidding farewell to the Serie A giants.

However, there seems to be a twist in the tale, as per a latest update.

La Viola wish to keep their talisman at the club

According to a report by 90 Min, Fiorentina have no intention to sell World Cup hero Sofyan Amrabat in January, who is a Liverpool target.

Further details suggest that the Italian juggernaut have dismissed any enquiries regarding the availability of the sought-after midfielder.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were exploring a deal to sign the Morrocan international as an option to strengthen their declining midfield.

Especially after witnessing Amrabat, labeled as the “best holding midfielder at the World Cup” by his agent (via Fabrizio Romano) spearhead his side’s historic win against Spain on Tuesday night, it is not a surprise to see why.

It is also reported that last summer, Fiorentina were open to letting their marquee figurehead leave on loan.

However, this time around, suitors would have to make them an offer they cannot refuse to sell the Moroccan fan favourite.

Liverpool should not be deterred in their search for a new midfielder after Amrabat blow

Sure, Fiorentina’s decision not to sell Sofyan Amrabat is not welcome news for Liverpool.

However, the last thing that the club should do is dwell on the transfer blow, and instead assess alternatives in the market.

Ultimately, Liverpool’s midfield is in serious need of freshening up, especially as they find themselves in a race for top four this season.
