The Athletic say Fiorentina are preparing for life without midfielder Sofyan Amrabat – as Tottenham remain locked in talks for the African Cup of Nations star. It is unclear if a move will be a loan, or a permanent deal.
Amrabat, 25, has struggled for game time. He had been involved in 17 of Fiorentina’s first 18 games, but had only started once – coming on in 10 others. However, he has been at AFCON – missing the last four games.
Tottenham are in talks with PSG over a move for Tanguy Ndombele, while Dele Alli and Gio Lo Celso could leave the club before the deadline. The Athletic say Amrabat could be brought in as a replacement.
While many will point to the fact he is struggling to start for Fiorentina, it is believed that the Morocco star is perfect for Antonio Conte’s midfield. The Athletic state Fiorentina are preparing for Amrabat to leave the club.

On the face of it, Amrabat does not look as though he improves Conte’s side. Harry Winks is improving with every minute he plays under the Italian, showing the grit and quality Conte wants from his Spurs players.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is first choice and Oliver Skipp is also doing well – plus, he is a homegrown player, another reason why he is key to Tottenham. So, does Amrabat improve Tottenham’s three options?
Even if he is seen on a par with those three, Spurs need competition and cover. Against Leicester, Spurs were brilliant – with Skipp, Winks and Hojbjerg all starting. Cover is required and Amrabat provides that.
