West Bromwich Albion are expected to complete a loan deal for Filip Krovinovic.

According to the Daily Mail, West Bromwich Albion should complete the loan signing of Benfica playmaker Filip Krovinovic today.

Slaven Bilic is yet to make his first signing as Baggies boss, but may now pounce to bring in Krovinovic as his maiden addition at The Hawthorns.

Rumours have surrounded a move for Krovinovic for a couple of weeks now, but it’s now thought that he’s on the verge of a move.

West Brom will take Krovinovic on loan for the season, marking a potentially exciting addition – even if he didn’t register a goal or an assist last season.

The 23-year-old impressed with Rio Ave, hitting five goals and three assists in the 2016-17 season before heading to Benfica, where he has struggled for consistent playing time.

It seems that Bilic knows all about his fellow Croatian, who has yet to earn a senior cap for his country, and will now hope to get him back on track.

A skilful playmaker, Krovinovic has suffered some injury problems with Benfica, and a fresh start in England may be just what he needs to get going again.

With little chance of a Benfica future, West Brom may be wise to look for a permanent clause in the loan deal, but we’ll have to see whether that materialises as Bilic allegedly closes in.

Slaven Bilic is presented as the new manager of West Bromwich Albion during a press conference at The Hawthorns on June 24, 2019 in West Bromwich, England.
