Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with Bruno Fernandes.

According to The Independent, Bruno Fernandes has indicated his willingness to join Tottenham Hotspur – but they’re short of the £70million asking price.

Tottenham are pursuing a new playmaker ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline, and their talks for Giovani Lo Celso appear to have hit a brick wall.

Sporting star Fernandes has now become a top target for Tottenham, but they now have less than 48 hours left to get a deal done.

It’s now believed that Fernandes does want to join Tottenham, and a move isn’t necessarily dependent on selling Christian Eriksen first either, which is a boost.

However, Sporting want £70million for Fernandes, and Spurs are currently only offer £50million plus £10million in add-ons. They’re therefore £10million off the total asking price, but the problem may be that they’re a huge £20million off the up front price.

Sporting may hold out for more cash up front, leaving Tottenham’s move in the pipeline as other playmakers – such as Lo Celso, Paulo Dybala and Philippe Coutinho – continue to be linked.

A deal for Fernandes – who hit 32 goals and 18 assists for Sporting last season – would be a real coup as the 24-year-old has outstanding technical ability and can take dangerous set pieces.

He’s creative, he’s a goalscorer, and he has huge potential too. It’s encouraging that a deal isn’t dependent on Eriksen leaving, though it does still seem that the Portuguese international will end up being a replacement for the Dane.
