Rangers man Tavernier has been in decent enough form for Steven Gerrard’s side this season.
Turkish outlet Fotospor claim Rangers captain James Tavernier has been shortlisted by Fenerbahce ahead of the January transfer window, as Damien Comolli looks to add two new full-backs to his side.
Tavernier, 27, has been in superb form going forward for Rangers this season, having a hand in 23 goals from the right side of defence. The Gers skipper has scored nine goals, as well as creating 14.
He supplied the assist with an excellent cross for Alfredo Morelos to score an 88th-minute winner against St. Johnstone on Sunday afternoon, but it is the defensive side of the game that has seen him come in for a bit of criticism this season.
Fenerbahce have surpassed Steven Gerrard’s side into the knockout stages of the Europa League, where they will face Zenit St. Petersburg who knocked Celtic out of the competition at this round last season.
It is claimed that Fener are looking for two new full-backs, one on either side of the defence. They have targeted AZ Alkmaar’s Thomas Ouwejan for the left-sided role, and Tavernier on the right.
Tavernier did sign a new contract in September to keep him at Ibrox until the summer of 2022, but former Tottenham and Liverpool director Comolli is looking to raid Rangers for the ex-Newcastle defender.
