Everton boss Koeman questioned the work rate of the attacking duo – and with one already gone, could the other follow?

Spain's Gerard Deulofeu celebrates scoring their second goal

Ronald Koeman is probably too proud to admit that he may have made a mistake discarding Gerard Deulofeu at the first opportunity. Frozen out for almost the entire first half of the season, the Spaniard has immediately rediscovered his golden touch on loan at AC Milan.

And, to rub salt into the wounds, he even netted his first international goal in Spain’s 2-0 win away at France earlier this week.

Though this may not stop The Toffees from selling another of their widemen in the summer. According to Fanatik, Turkish giants Fenerbache, who are underperforming this season and sit in fourth place, want to begin remodelling their squad with the signing of Kevin Mirallas.

The 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer of 2018 and, although he told Nieuwsblad recently that he is happy at Goodison Park, Everton may want to cash in on the Belgian at the end of the season rather than risk losing him for free.

Although Mirallas is Everton’s joint second-highest goalscorer in the Premier League this season, albeit with just four, he has been restricted to 16 starts this season as his importance at Goodison Park continues to decline by the season.

And Koeman hardly gave the former Olympiakos forward a vote of confidence earlier in the season, publically questioning his work rate, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Intriguingly, the Dutchman also singled out Deulofeu for criticism. Sometimes inspirational though often idle, the Spaniard paid the price for failing to fulfil Koeman’s demands. Despite his ability going forward, it was the dereliction of his defensive duties that convinced Koeman to swing the axe.

Could the same fate befall Mirallas?
