According to The Sun, Rangers are set to beat a number of Championship clubs to the signing of Oostende striker Fashion Sakala.
It’s claimed that Rangers are ‘hot favourites’ to sign Sakala on a pre-contract agreement despite major interest from teams in England.
The Gers are thought to be winning the race because of the potential to play in the Champions League, giving them an upper hand over Championship sides.
Teams in the Middle East are also keen, but it looks like Sakala is heading to Ibrox as things stand, though Lille have been scouting him ‘extensively’ in recent weeks.
Until a deal is done, Rangers could still be hijacked, but it looks like Ross Wilson will be able to lure the Zambian forward to Ibrox.
Sakala, 23, has been in blistering form this season, smashing 13 goals and three assists in 24 league games for Oostende.

Formerly of Spartak Moscow, Sakala is quick and dangerous, though he has made it clear that he wants to play up top rather than out wide.
With Jermain Defoe’s career winding down and lingering question marks over Alfredo Morelos, adding another striker would be wise – and landing Sakala for nothing could be a great start addition for next season.
