Report: ‘Fantastic’ Spurs ace’s agent has tried and failed to broker a summer exit for his client

According to The Times, Harry Kane’s representatives asked Manchester City about a potential summer move for the striker as recently as February.

Kane had, of course, been strongly linked with a move to City 12 months ago, but for one reason or another, a transfer never came to fruition.

Since then, speculation about Kane had died down, the striker was reportedly very happy at Spurs under Antonio Conte and there has even been talk about a new contract.

Conte is clearly loving working with Kane as well, branding the England star as ‘fantastic’ just last week.

However, with The Times reporting that Kane’s agent has tried to, once again, broker a move to City, things may not be as stable as we’re led to believe with Kane and Spurs.

Of course, context is vital in this situation, and there may well be a logical explanation for this.

Back in February, Spurs had a run where they lost five out of seven matches, and it was looking incredibly unlikely that they’d finish in the Champions League, so, to be honest, we can’t really blame Kane for analysing his options at that point.

Nevertheless, City, quite simply, weren’t interested in a move for Kane this time around.

Indeed, The Premier League champions knocked Kane back, stating that they were wholly focused on bringing Erling Haaland to the club – a transfer which has since been announced.

Kane may well be happy at Spurs at the moment, but as this story shows, it only takes one bad run of form for speculation to begin about the striker and perhaps for doubts to set in for the England captain.

As of right now, it looks like Kane will be staying at Tottenham, but as we all know by now, things can change very quickly in this sport.
