According to The Telegraph, Youri Tielemans remains on Arsenal’s radar, but a move to the Emirates is far more likely in the summer when his contract expires.
Tielemans has been linked with Arsenal for a good 18 months now. His agents have been to Colney and there’s been constant chatter about a move.
However, the Gunners are yet to cough up the cash to sign him, and after all this time, they’re still hesitant to stump up the funds to get this one done.
Indeed, despite needing midfield reinforcements, Arsenal are still holding out to sign Tielemans on a free transfer, and, in our view, this is dangerous game to be playing.

Not only is waiting to sign Tielemans inviting other clubs to get involved in this race – namely Newcastle United who have been linked strongly in recent weeks, but this could also affect the Gunners’ title challenge.
Right now, Arsenal are looking at their best chance of winning the title in over 15 years, they can’t afford to let finances get in the way of their destiny at this point.
Yes, it will sting to pay out for Tielemans this month when you can probably get him for free in six months’ time, but boosting your chances of winning a first Premier League title in 19 years is something you can’t really put a price on.
Tielemans could well be the difference between winning the league and finishing second. He’s a player who has proven himself at this level hundreds of times over – being described as ‘fantastic’ in the past, while he would provide cover in a very important position for the Gunners who are incredibly light in midfield behind Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey.
A summer move is more likely for Tielemans, but perhaps Arsenal should be looking at him this month.
