Sunderland striker Fabio Borini could be heading towards Celtic this summer.
Celtic – Brendan Rodgers Press Conference
According to reports from The Chronicle, Sunderland striker Fabio Borini is on his way out. The Italian striker is expected to join Celtic in the summer transfer window.
The report states that the 26-year-old is “expected to move to Parkhead” in a £6 million deal under a relegation release clause in his contract.

The striker has previously worked with Brendan Rodgers at Chelsea, Swansea City and Liverpool.
This has been a memorable season for Celtic as they not only won their sixth Scottish Premier League title, but also pocketed a historic treble, remaining unbeaten throughout the domestic season.
However, Rodgers’ major challenge now is to improve in the Champions League. The former Reds manager should be looking to add quality signings this summer, and Borini would be a decent addition.

Borini can play up front or out wide, and could form a dangerous attacking trio with Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele.
The striker disappointed largely during his spell at Anfield where he scored just three goals in 38 games under Rodgers, but the pair did enjoy a successful spell at Swansea.
Borini’s progression has stalled in recent years, and his form at Sunderland hasn’t been encouraging either. However, Rodgers has shown great managerial qualities in getting the best out of his players, and Celtic fans can hope he does the same with Borini.
