Fabian Delph is reportedly expected to make his Everton debut this week having been injured since pre-season.

According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, Fabian Delph is expected to make his competitive debut for Everton this week, with the Toffees facing a Carabao Cup tie before taking on Wolves in the Premier League at the weekend.

Delph looked to be one of Everton’s most shrewd signings of the summer, with BBC Sport reporting that Marco Silva’s men paid just £10 million for the former Manchester City man.

Unfortunately, the Goodison Park faithful are yet to see the 30-year-old feature since pre-season after he limped off during the friendly with Werder Bremen due to a groin injury.

Everton have made a mixed start to the season, taking four points from their opening three games. Their most recent result was a 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa. But it appears that they could receive a big boost ahead of their cup tie with Lincoln City.

The Liverpool Echo reports that Delph is expected to make his bow for the Toffees this week, whether that be against the League One side or when they host Wolves at the start of next month.

It should provide Silva’s men with a big lift to have Delph available. He rarely let Pep Guardiola down when he featured for the Premier League champions, whether that be in midfield or at left-back.

With Lucas Digne returning from injury in time to face Aston Villa while fellow summer signing Jean-Philippe Gbamin sat out the game, it looks a safe bet to assume that Delph will likely get the chance to prove himself in the middle of the park when he does make his debut.

Everton need the England international to hit the ground running to help the side put their underwhelming start to the season behind them. He certainly has the quality to make the immediate impact Silva needs.
