Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have been offered the chance to sign Atletico Madrid striker Matheus Cunha, a player Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal want to bring to the Emirates Stadium, according to The Daily Mail.
Arsenal-linked Matheus Cunha offered to Aston Villa
The report has claimed that Aston Villa have been offered Cunha in the January transfer window.
Goal have reported that Villa are made contact with the agent of the Brazil international striker and are planning to make a bid.
This will come as a blow for Arsenal, who are also claimed to be keen on the 23-year-old, described as “extraordinary” by former Inter Milan player Paolo Tramezzani in FC InterNews in May 2020.
Gunners need to make a decision
The Athletic reported on Monday that Leeds have ‘serious interest’ in the striker and wanted to sign him before he went to Atletico from Hertha Berlin.
The report claimed that Arsenal were considering whether or not to enter the race for the youngster and make a bid for him.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly looking for a number 9 due to the injury to Brazil international striker Gabriel Jesus that will keep him on the sidelines for three months at least.
It seems that Arsenal will have to make up their mind on whether or not to bid for Cunha, as time could be running out.
Stats
Cunha has made two starts and nine substitute appearances in La Liga for Atletico so far this season.
The young striker has given two assists in those matches.
The Brazil international has also made five substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League this campaign.
