According to Di Marzio, Nicolo Zaniolo will not be playing any sort of part for Roma against Spezia this weekend.
The ‘extraordinary’ player is set to be left out of Jose Mourinho’s matchday squad for the Serie A clash this weekend amid rumours he’s agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Zaniolo has supposedly agreed personal terms with Spurs, but there is a long way to go in terms of getting this transfer done as Tottenham’s initial bid for the player has been turned down.
To be honest, it’s not surprising at all to hear that Zaniolo will not be playing a part for Roma against Spezia. After all, it was reported by Alfredo Pedulla that the midfielder has been training on his own after failing to agree terms on a new contract.

It really looks as though Zaniolo’s days in the Italian capital are numbered, and it wouldn’t be a surprise one bit if the 23-year-old has played his final game for Roma.
He may have reportedly agreed terms with Spurs, but a move to north London isn’t his only option at this point in time.
Indeed, both West Ham United and Nottingham Forest have been linked with Zaniolo, and while neither of those clubs are quite as glamorous as Tottenham, they can at least guarantee the Roma ace first-team football on a weekly basis.
Given Tottenham’s vast quality – at least on paper, in the midfield and the attack, one has to assume that Zaniolo wouldn’t necessarily be one of the first names on the teamsheet for Antonio Conte’s side if he were to head to Spurs.
Meanwhile, with both West Ham and Forest desperate for a bit of quality going forward, Zaniolo could be a key player for either of those teams.
Whatever happens, it looks like this player will be a key figure as we enter the final weeks of the January transfer window.
