According to The Athletic, Serge Gnabry has agreed to sign a new Bayern Munich contract, ending any speculation about his future.

The ‘explosive’ winger had been the subject of so much speculation this summer. Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea had all been linked with the German, but it looks like he’s set to stay in Bavaria.

Arsenal had seemed like the most likely destination for Gnabry. After all, it was reported that the winger wouldn’t move to another London club due to his links to the Gunners, while Liverpool seemingly don’t need a new player in that position after Mohamed Salah signed his new deal.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, a return to the Emirates won’t be happening for the attacker this summer, and the Gunners may have to go back to the drawing board in their pursuit of a new winger.

Of course, Mikel Arteta’s side have already tried, and failed, to sign Raphinha this summer, so a move for a new winger is seemingly high on Edu’s agenda, but up until now, the north Londoners are struggling to make any real headway with their reported targets.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, there aren’t really any more concrete links to a new winger at the moment. However, that can change at any time as we saw earlier this summer with the signing of Fabio Vieira seemingly coming from out of nowhere.

Fabrizio Romano recently hinted that the Gunners are working on a move for a mystery player, who could be a winger, and now, they may push ahead with that transfer as Gnabry is no longer an option.
