West Brom striker Salomon Rondon is reportedly heading to China after failing to secure a move to Premier League duo Wolves or West Ham United.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United decided against triggering the £16.5 million release clause in Salomon Rondon’s West Bromwich Albion contract, according to the Express and Star, with the experienced striker now on his way to China.
Rondon enjoyed his best ever Premier League season in 2018/19, netting 11 times on loan at Newcastle United to claim the club’s Player of the Year award.
So it is surprising really that no one else in England’s top flight was willing to invest £16.5 million in him, a fee which hardly represents breaking the bank this day and age.
Maybe it was his age, Rondon turns 30 this year after all, or the fact that the Venezuelan hardly set the world alight in a West Brom team managed, admittedly, by the most pure form of pragmatism in Tony Pulis.
According to the Express and Star, Wolves and West Ham decided to look elsewhere after deciding that Rondon’s £16.5 million price-tag was too much.

Instead, the former Zenit and Malaga target man has agreed to sign for Dalian Yifang where, look away Newcastle fans, he will reunite with Rafa Benitez.
But considering that Wolves coach Nuno Espirito Santo opened up on Monday about his frustration at the lack of new additions, and with West Ham missing out on Maxi Gomez and Aleksandar Mitrovic too, Rondon’s impending move to the Far East is unlikely to go down too well with some at Molineux or the London Stadium.
