West Ham United are interested in signing Theo Walcott from Arsenal.
According to a report in the London Evening Standard, West Ham United are continuing to sound out Arsenal over a potential deal for striker Theo Walcott.
West Ham are keen to sign Walcott, who could be made available if Arsenal are able to complete a deal for Leicester City front man Jamie Vardy.
The Gunners have had a bid accepted by Leicester for Vardy, with the transfer expected to go through in the next few days.
If the switch does take place, the Standard believe West Ham will make a move for Walcott.
The former Southampton man’s first team chances would be limited if Vardy was to move to the Emirates Stadium, and he is understood to already be frustrated with his lack of opportunities.
West Ham believe Walcott would enhance Slaven Bilic’s attacking options and are ready to sanction a £25 million bid for the England international.
The Hammers are slightly concerned about Walcott’s injury record over recent seasons, though.
Walcott has suffered with persistent fitness problems, and West Ham are worried about his tendency to end up on the treatment table.
Any potential move to the Olympic Stadium would also depend on Vardy being willing to take a pay cut, as West Ham are reportedly not willing to match his current £140,000-a-week wages.
