According to The Daily Mail, Victor Wanyama did not leave Tottenham Hotspur for a move abroad last year as he wanted to get UK citizenship.

It has been reported that the former Celtic and Southampton defensive midfielder is set to get his British passport in the coming weeks.

The 28-year-old could have left Spurs for clubs abroad last year, but he did not as he had to wait to ensure that he qualified for his British passport after living in the UK for over six years, according to the report.

The Daily Mail has claimed that Wanyama is expected to leave Tottenham this summer and could move abroad later in August.

Leaving Tottenham Hotspur

Wanyama is a very good defensive midfielder who has done well for Spurs when he has been fit.

However, the former Celtic star has had injuries in recent times, and given that he is 28 years of age, one can understand why Tottenham are open to listening to offers for him, as reported in The Daily Mail.
