Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with Juan Foyth of Estudiantes in the summer transfer window.

According to The Times, Tottenham Hotspur have lost out on the race to sign Juan Foyth from Estudiantes in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Paris Saint-Germain have won the race for the 19-year-old central defender after offering £9 million for him.

“Juan Sebastian Veron, the president of the Argentine club, travelled to London for talks with Tottenham last week but felt that their bid was too low,” adds the report in The Times.

Tottenham do not like to spend more money than necessary on players, and one can understand why the North London outfit (reportedly) refused to pay £9m for Foyth.

Foyth is a very talented and promising young defender, but the 19-year-old has made only a handful of appearances for Estudiantes so far in his career.

Spurs are not exactly in need of a centre-back, and it does make sense for them to try to get Foyth on the cheap.

PSG are not in great need of a centre-back either, but the Ligue 1 giants are one of the richest clubs in the world and can afford to pay £9m for a unproven teenage footballer.

Tottenham finished second in the Premier League last season and will be aiming to win the league title during the 2017-18 campaign.

The North London outfit will also be aiming to progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League next season.
