The manager’s absence from the Baggies’ game fuelled speculation that he could be on his way out of the Hawthorns.

A report in the Daily Mirror has claimed that Tony Pulis missing West Bromwich Albion’s friendly with Delhi Dynamos during the international break was always the plan and not a sign that the Baggies boss was on his way out of the club.

The Mirror reports that the side had endured a frustrating transfer window, and Pulis’ absence in the 1-0 win was deemed by many to be an indication that he was considering his future.

However, the Mirror adds that the former Stoke City boss was never going to be at the game at the Hawthorns as he instead was planning to watch Bournemouth’s friendly with AC Milan that took place on the same day.

The Vitality Stadium is much closer to Pulis’ home, and provided the Welshman with the chance to watch the Baggies’ first opponents following the break.

So, if there is any frustration left from how the window played out for the Midlands side, he is clearly not letting it have any impact on his plans to prepare the team.

While it may have been a fairly quiet summer for West Brom – barring the £13m acquisition of Nacer Chadli from Tottenham – they have made a promising start to the new campaign, with four points coming from their opening three games.

And Pulis will be hoping that his scouting mission boosts their chances of making it seven points from four games.
