Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson is reportedly to help the club in their battle against relegation rather than leave this month.
According to The Mirror, Swansea City playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson will snub interest from Everton and West Ham United in order to help the Swans in their battle against relegation..
Sigurdsson, 27, has been the one shining light from Swansea’s miserable season so far, with the club sitting bottom of the Premier League table whilst already being managed by their third boss of the season in Paul Clement.
Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson looks dejected
The Icelandic international has hit five goals and six assists in 21 Premier League appearances this season, and Swansea would certainly be dead and buried without their star midfielder.
Sigurdsson’s performances are unsurprisingly attracting interest, just as they did during his loan spell with Swansea in 2012, which ultimately led to him joining Tottenham Hotspur.

The Mirror report that Everton and West Ham United are both keen to raid Swansea for Sigurdsson’s services, with less than two weeks to go until the transfer deadline.
However, it’s stated that Sigurdsson has no intention of leaving the Liberty Stadium, and will snub interest from Everton and West Ham in order to help Swansea in their battle against relegation.
Ultimately, this makes sense for Sigurdsson. Even if Swansea do go down, clubs won’t be put off signing him, as he’s a proven Premier League talent, and having become a Swansea favourite over the years, staying to help them try and stay up is the right thing to do.
Summer interest will arrive whether Swansea stay up or not, and having signed a new four-year contract with the club last summer, it seems that the midfielder is ready to stay true to his word and stick with the club – for now at least.
