Report explains why Manuel Pellegrini now unlikely to manage Leicester City or Everton

It had been claimed the former Manchester City boss was interested in holding talks with Leicester City and Everton.

Hours after he was linked with the vacant managerial positions at Leicester City and Everton, Manuel Pellegrini is now unlikely to take over at either Premier League club, according to Sky Sports.

It had been claimed the former Manchester City boss, who won one league title and two League Cups during his time at the Etihad Stadium, was interested in holding talks with the managerless pair.

But the broadcaster says the Chilean, who is said to earn £12 million a year at Hebei China Fortune, is eyeing a move to Premier League club playing regular European football, and feels neither side fits the bill.

It adds that a move to Everton is further hampered by Pellegrini’s relationship with Toffees’ owner and Farhad Moshiri, which it is claimed was soured after he was interviewed for the role in May 2016.

While the depth of Leicester’s squad is said to have left the 62-year-old ‘far from impressed’.

As well as Hebei, where he has two years left on his contract, Pellegrini has also managed Malaga, Real Madrid and Villarreal since moving to European football in 2004 from River Plate.

It was at Villarreal that Pellegrini ended Everton’s Champions League hopes in August 2005.
