Manchester United have been linked with a move for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney.

A report from the Daily Record has suggested that Manchester United currently do not plan to make a move for Celtic starlet Kieran Tierney despite numerous scouting trips to watch the 19-year-old.

The Record reports that United have been monitoring Tierney’s progress lately, but Jose Mourinho does not intend to try and sign the Scotland international due to his lack of experience.

According to the Record, United want a left-back who will not need time to adjust to the surroundings at Old Trafford and are thus, unconvinced about moving for Tierney.

Though Tierney is yet to play in the Premier League, the doubts remaining about the quality of the Scottish Premiership means that Celtic’s achievements this term have arguably been underrated, and Tierney’s form and progression has perhaps unfairly gone under the radar.

He is not only the best left-back in the top flight despite still being a teenager, but he has also demonstrated his versatility on the international stage – he played right-back in just his third appearance for Scotland – and has represented the Hoops in the Champions League, so will have a good idea about the calibre of the best wingers on the continent.

But while some will feel that Tierney will definitely be capable of playing in the Premier League in future, if he is not already, Celtic fans will probably be delighted that Mourinho is reportedly ready to overlook him in favour of other targets.
