Kenedy’s future at Newcastle United looks pretty bleak.

Kenedy bobs down taking a rest during the Newcastle United warm weather training session at La Finca Golf Resort on February 12, 2019 in Callosa de Segura, Spain.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United winger Kenedy wasn’t left out for injury reasons against Crystal Palace – Rafael Benitez just didn’t choose him for the game.

The Magpies were looking to pick up a win over the Eagles after defeat at Arsenal, but found themselves massively frustrated in a 1-0 home defeat.

Luka Milivojevic scored the only goal of the game for Palace, and Newcastle fans have been left to discuss the squad at St James’ Park, with many feeling that some players need to go.

Intriguingly, one player who certainly appears to be going is Kenedy. The Brazilian winger was a major loan signing from Chelsea last summer, having impressed in a similar deal in the second half of last season.

A quick left winger with real quality, Kenedy should have been a star this season, but it just hasn’t worked out. Now, The Chronicle claim that Kenedy’s absence from the squad on Saturday wasn’t down to injury or fitness, it was because Benitez just didn’t pick him.

Kenedy has gone from sure-fire starter to not even getting in the squad. He hasn’t started a single league game in 2019, and played just 62 minutes since the end of the January transfer window.

The writing is surely on the wall now; Kenedy won’t be signed permanently, with Benitez needing more quality to take Newcastle forward if he chooses to stay at St James’ Park.

If Newcastle don’t sign him, Kenedy may well be left in limbo. Chelsea won’t give him consistent playing time, but with their transfer ban, may not want to let him go, meaning the Brazilian could be in for a strange summer.
