According to Tuttosport, Juventus rejected offers from Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City for Merih Demiral as they consider him a future pillar of the team.

The Juve defender has long been linked with an exit from the Turin club.

Earlier this year, the Leicester Mercury claim Leicester are big admirers of Demiral while Everton had been previously cited as suitors by Tuttosport.

Fresh reports now claim the Premier League duo plus Wolves made bids for him.

Tuttosport, however, claim Juve turned them down as they see him as an asset for the long-term and the ideal partner for Mattijs De Ligt over the next decade.

Right now, Demiral has barely had a kick for Juve under new manager Andrea Pirlo, featuring for just 10 minutes. But he has long been dubbed Giorgio Chiellini’s heir while Calciomercato rate him at around £34 million.

“If so many teams want him it means that everyone recognises his great qualities. Demiral is a good player, an excellent professional, and the hope is that he will return stronger than before. He can have a great future. He will be the worthy heir of Chiellini,” Mircea Lucescu, who handed Demiral his Turkish debut, told TuttoJuve.

Leicester made a new central defender a top priority in the summer. After a long transfer saga, the Foxes finally landed the highly-rated Wesley Fofana from Saint Etienne.

Everton, meanwhile, spent the bulk of their budget on improving their midfield as Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez all arrived at Goodison Park.

But the Toffees still wanted to add a defender before the deadline, and they sealed a deal for Ben Godrey from Norwich City for around the £20 million mark.

Wolves, on the other hand, brought in defenders Nelson Semedo, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcal but the trio are predominantly fullbacks rather than centre-backs.

It remains to be seen whether Wolves will regret missing out on signing a new central defender with the club shipping seven goals in their last three games.
