Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah is piling on the pressure and building a case for his first start, scoring a hat-trick for England’s under-21 side.
Bielsa has been reluctant to select Nketiah so far, using him off the bench seven times in the Championship.
A report in The Times attempts to explain why the Argentine has made the decisions he has.
It reads: “On the rare occasion he doesn’t score, he can offer little to the overall game.
“Bielsa expects his forward players to enhance the game with a high work rate, tracking back and linking play with his teammates, all elements of Nketiah’s game that will need to be developed to match his undeniable eye for a goal.”
Bielsa’s concerns may have merit, but Leeds have struggled for goals this season.
The Whites have dominated possession in games but been unable to put opponents away.
Bielsa’s usage of Nketiah has been too skewed in one direction, and it is time for him to reset the balance.
He should put his worries about the Arsenal youngster aside and make sure he uses him while he can.
The problem is Bielsa is notoriously headstrong, and makes his own decisions. He is not one to bow to public pressure, and will do things his way.
