Benjamin Mendy was reportedly on Tottenham Hotspur’s list of transfer targets last summer.
According to a report on London Football News, Tottenham Hotspur missed out on signing Benjamin Mendy in the summer – as Daniel Levy would not sanction a deal.
Mauricio Pochettino had identified Mendy as a player who could have enhanced the quality of Tottenham’s squad.
However, Spurs decided against bringing in the 22-year-old left-back, as they could not sell Ben Davies.
Levy was demanding a high price for Davies, and Spurs were unable to find a suitor for the Welsh international.
As a result Mendy decided to move from Marseille to Monaco, and he highlighted his ability to Spurs on Tuesday in the Champions League.
Mendy impressed as Tottenham knocked Spurs out of Europe by winning 2-1, with his driving runs from defence causing problems.
Pochettino has now hinted that Tottenham may be active in the next two transfer windows, as he looks to add further quality to his squad.
Spurs’ summer signings, with the exception of Victor Wanyama, have all struggled to make an impact at White Hart Lane – and changes are now set to be made in the January transfer window.
