Olivier Skipp has missed the start of pre-season training under Nuno Espirito Santo as the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder continues his recover from foot surgery, per football.london.
Nuno has welcomed a raft of Spurs’ young hopefuls into the first-team fold after returning to north London from their respective loan spells. Skipp, however, was not among them.
The 20-year-old is still recovering from surgery on a metatarsal fracture he sustained while with Norwich in May. But Skipp’s making good progress in his recovery and the Tottenham talent could join Nuno as early as next week.

Nuno will likely give Skipp and Ryan Sessegnon chances to establish roles for themselves at Tottenham next season. Skipp enjoyed a stellar campaign at Carrow Road last term as he helped Norwich secure the Championship title and their Premier League return.
The Spurs product started 44 of his 45 second-tier outings, only failing to feature on the final day against Barnsley due to his injury. Skipp also played the full 90 minutes on 38 occasions.
Skipp impressed so much at Carrow Road that Norwich Sporting Director Stuart Webber told Pink Un that he’d contacted Tottenham to discuss another loan, as “we’d love to keep him.”
But Nuno will see that Skipp starts to fulfil his bright Tottenham future next season, once he returns from injury. The England U21 international featured sporadically in north London during the 2018/19 and 19/20 seasons, but only started seven of his 23 total appearances.
Nuno will have a ‘perfect’ player at Tottenham in Skipp
Nuno will have a top-draw talent at Tottenham once Skipp recovers from his foot injury and is available to train. The youngster is earmarked to be Spurs captain one day and can occupy any central role across the engine room.
Skipp also gives his all on the pitch and looks wise beyond his years on the field. Norwich boss Daniel Farke hailed the midfielder during his time at Carrow Road, as well. He told Pink Un in February: “Oliver is a perfect lad. So humble. He is a brilliant loan signing.”
Nuno will hope Skipp now takes what learnt in the Championship to become a top-draw Premier League player for Tottenham.
