Middlesbrough need to bring in a replacement before selling Nugent.
A report in the Yorkshire Post has highlighted what is key for any potential Leeds United move for Middlesbrough striker David Nugent.
It has been reported this week that Leeds are one of the teams interested in bringing in the Middlesbrough striker this winter.
Middlesbrough’s David Nugent shouts
The Northern Echo reported that the striker is being considered by both Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday with former club Preston North End also keen.
The Sun went on to report that the Middlesbrough striker has informed friends that he would like a move to Leeds.
He is said to be keen on the move as it would mean not having to move home for the final six months of the season and he would get plenty of game time at Elland Road.
Middlesbrough’s David Nugent in action
Now the Yorkshire Post has reported that any potential Leeds swoop for Nugent is contingent on Boro boss Aitor Karanka bringing in sufficient replacements up front.
Middlesbrough, who are also set to field bids for Scottish striker Jordan Rhodes, are said to be looking to bring in some support for striker Alvaro Negredo.
If they bring in new blood then Nugent may be available for transfer but if not Leeds will have to look elsewhere.
