One of Arsenal’s biggest talking points, irrespective of whether he plays or not, is Mesut Ozil. The German has divided opinion since the day he landed in England, and it now seems like his time in the Premier League is coming to an end.
Ozil hasn’t played a single minute of football since the restart and it doesn’t look like he will any time soon. That, in a way, is counter-productive to Arsenal considering that he is one of the highest paid players in the league.
The Gunners pay him a staggering £350,000 a week, which at the moment is just a loss due to him not featuring at all. Arsenal would certainly love to cut their losses and move him on this summer but it will not be easy.
No European club, especially in the current financial climate, would be willing to pay Ozil’s £350,000 a week wages. The German will have to drop his salary considerably to secure a move elsewhere which, from a financial stand point, is unnecessary for him.
Ozil will have to head to one of the smaller yet more financially ambitious leagues to get as much money as possible, but it will not be happening this summer.
The Sun has claimed today that Ozil has told his close friends that he will see out his contract at Arsenal. That would mean that the Gunners will have to continue paying him £350,000 a week for another 12 months whether Mikel Arteta likes it or not.

The report also says that Ozil will consider a move to America to play in MLS or to Turkey but he will only do so when he becomes a free agent at the end of next season.
That is bad news for Arsenal. The situation will hurt their plans in the upcoming summer transfer window which will directly impact Arteta’s chances of success in his first full season in charge.
If Ozil isn’t going anywhere, Arteta might as well use him, but the Arsenal boss is right to leave him out if his attitude isn’t at the level that he demands.
