Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham was missing from the matchday squad for the Ibrox side’s final Europa League group-stage game.

Wes Foderingham may have only made three appearances for Rangers this season, but it still surprised a lot of fans when the team for the Gers’ Europa League clash was announced and the goalkeeper was missing from the matchday squad.
Foderingham lost his place as number one to Allan McGregor at the start of the season. The Englishman has featured in just two League Cup ties as well as one Scottish Premiership clash.
And his omission on Thursday seemed to leave plenty of Rangers fans wondering whether Robby McCrorie being named as the backup goalkeeper was a sign that Foderingham was likely to be on his way out of the club next month.
It remains to be seen whether Foderingham does go when the window opens. But a report from The Scottish Sun has confirmed that there is no sinister reason behind his absence.

The Daily Express recently reported that Steven Gerrard may be willing to let Foderingham go in January amid interest from Leeds United, so it is probably little surprise that his absence from the squad did attract attention.
Even though Foderingham has played a peripheral role this term, it would be a blow for the Gers to lose him next month. He is a fantastic understudy to have – but it is obviously a situation that suits Rangers a lot more than it suits the goalkeeper.
