Rob Elliot is one player that Rafa Benitez could reportedly allow to leave Newcastle United this month.

The Chronicle reports that Elliot is the one player that Benitez has opened the exit door for this month, and he is likely to be the player that drops out of the 25-man squad if the Magpies manage to make any signings during this window.
The report suggests that Newcastle have only received tentative enquiries for the 32-year-old, and he could possibly leave. But despite Benitez seemingly making it clear that Elliot is not in his plans, the goalkeeper is not giving up on securing a long-term future at St James’ Park.

With Martin Dubravka in such fine form since arriving at Newcastle and Freddie Woodman showing so much potential, it would be a surprise if Elliot did manage to force his way back up the pecking order unless the club could not manage to hold onto either of his rivals, while Karl Darlow also provides further competition.
Elliot has been an excellent servant for the Magpies. But leaving on loan arguably appears to be the smartest move that he can make this month as he could perhaps send a message to his parent club ahead of next season or put himself in the shop window before the summer.
