Everton are reportedly planning to sack Sam Allardyce and appoint Paulo Fonseca.
According to The Mirror, Everton chairman Bill Kenwright is on board with Farhad Moshiri’s plan to replace manager Sam Allardyce with Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca.
The Toffees sacked Ronald Koeman back in October and appointed Allardyce a month later, handing the ex-Crystal Palace boss the reins on an 18-month contract.
Allardyce started well but has struggled in 2018, and with fans unhappy with the brand of football on offer under Allardyce, a change could still come this summer.
Now, The Mirror report that Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri wants to sack Allardyce his summer and replace him with Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca – and chairman Bill Kenwright is on board with the plans.
Kenwright has generally been an advocate of stability having employed David Moyes for 11 years, but he seemingly realises that Everton can do better than Allardyce this summer.
Fonseca, 45, was a top target for Everton in November and appears to be top of the list again this summer, as he nears a second consecutive Ukrainian league title with Shakhtar.
The Portuguese boss won a domestic double last season, kicked off this season with the Ukrainian Super Cup, and even took Shakhtar into the knockout stages of this term’s Champions League.
Fonseca appears to be a more long-term appointment than Allardyce ever was, and Everton will hope to finally get it right with their next managerial hire.
