Nikola Vlasic was loaned out by Premier League outfit Everton to Russian Premiership giants CSKA Moscow and he has shone so far.
Nikola Vlasic’s father made it clear what he thought of Marco Silva’s decision to loan the attacker out to CSKA Moscow in the summer.
The Portuguese manager told Vlasic that he was not part of his immediate plans at Everton and the Croatian international has quickly set about proving a point to his parent club.
The 21-year-old has been hugely influential in Russia and made headlines across Europe by scoring the winner against Real Madrid in the Champions League recently.
“Everton have big problems in midfield and Nikola is the player they need,” Yoshko Vlasic told Championat. “Vlasic told Silva before leaving he considered himself the best midfielder in the team. The manager made a big mistake.”
But will Vlasic ever be back at Goodison Park? According to the Liverpool Echo blog (October 12th, 11:11), the former Hajduk Split starlet increasingly sees his long-term future away from Everton and that is perhaps little surprise.
Vlasic, a £10 million signing in 2017, has thrived with regular game time at CSKA, so why would he return to warm the bench on Merseyside?
After all, Ademola Lookman’s current omission from the Everton starting XI shows that an impressive loan spell doesn’t always guarantee you a bigger role at your parent club.
