Braga defender Bruno Viana is reportedly a target for Leeds United, as well as Premier League trio Watford, Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Leeds United will have to break the bank to sign Bruno Viana this summer with Braga set to demand at least £13 million for their star centre-back, as reported by A Bola.
TalkSPORT broke the news on Monday that the Brazilian centre-back is a target for a number of clubs in England’s top two divisions. Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds are eyeing a deal that would see Viana move to Elland Road but they are likely to face competition from Premier League trio Watford, Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Braga paid a club-record £2.5 million to sign Viana from OIympiakos after an impressive loan spell and the 24-year-old has repaid that investment in style, establishing himself as one of the stand-out defenders in the Primeira Liga.
And A Bola points out that Braga will not let Viana leave without a fight. The report claims that he has a costly £23 million release clause in his contract while president Antonio Salvador is unlikely to sell for a penny less than £13 million.
Such a fee would make Viana the second most expensive player in Leeds’ history, behind record signing Rio Ferdinand.
Though Wolves, Watford and Leicester should have little trouble paying £13 million given the finances available to Premier League clubs. Being promoted this season would certainly make Leeds’ task easier.
