Everton reportedly wanted Jordi Cruyff at Goodison Park.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are pursuing Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Jordi Cruyff for a director role – not long after snubbing a move to Everton.
Cruyff, the son of Dutch legend Johan Cruyff, may be remembered by some for his stint with Manchester United as a player, having joined from Barcelona in 1996.
The 44-year-old has stayed in football since his retirement in 2010, becoming sporting director of AEK Larnaca before taking up a similar role with Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2012.
In 2017, Cruyff essentially appointed himself as Maccabi’s coach, and Mundo Deportivo report that he is expecting to move on and potentially return to being a director elsewhere.

Barcelona are understood to be keen on handing Cruyff a return to the Camp Nou, whilst it’s added that Everton failed with a move for Cruyff, presumably in 2016 before Steve Walsh was hired as Director of Football.
The report claims that Cruyff did find the project at Everton interesting, but whilst he was somewhat keen on a move, he decided to stay loyal to Maccabi Tel Aviv instead.
Two years on from that move, Everton may be looking for another Director of Football given question marks over Walsh’s future, and it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Farhad Moshiri returns to try and land Cruyff again this summer.
