Celtic are reportedly continuing to pursue Hibernian’s John McGinn.

According to The Scottish Sun, Hibernian are demanding a higher fee from Celtic for midfielder John McGinn due to the Bhoys’ sale of Stuart Armstrong last week.
Hibs have seen McGinn thrive since a 2015 move from St. Mirren, bagging 18 goals in 132 games whilst also becoming a regular for the Scottish national team.

Many have expected McGinn to move on this summer given that he has just a year left on his contract at Easter Road, and Celtic tried their luck with a £1.5million bid earlier this week.
However, that bid was immediately rejected – and The Scottish Sun have shed light on just why Hibs are pushing for more cash from the Bhoys this summer.
It’s stated that Hibernian saw Celtic sell midfielder Stuart Armstrong to Southampton for £7million last week, and feel that McGinn is clearly worth more than £1.5million as both are Scotland internationals and both had just a year left on their contracts.

Hibs can’t expect a £7million fee, but with Celtic set to return with a new bid for McGinn, they may demand closer to £3million for their prized midfield asset.
Using Hibs loanee Scott Allan in a part-exchange deal for McGinn may help Celtic keep the price down, but the sale of Armstrong last week may just prove to be an issue in their pursuit of the 23-year-old.
