David Luiz has suddenly become a villain around Arsenal after his disappointing game against Manchester City on Wednesday.
The Brazilian gifted the defending champions their first goal before conceding a penalty which led to his red card a few moments later.
Luiz hinted post-match that his performance could have been due to his contract situation but refused to blame it on that entirely. (Read more here)
However, his contract is up in less than two weeks time and a lot has been said about his future after Arsenal’s defeat at Manchester City.
The Daily Mail have revealed the reason behind the hold up in an agreement between Arsenal and the Brazilian.
The report claims that the Gunners have an option to extend Luiz’s contract by another year but the defender is looking for something more.

Luiz wants a two-year deal worth £120,000-a-week on the table, something that Arsenal are unwilling to do due to his age and possibly his performance earlier this week.
The report says that Arsenal might agree to offer him a two-year deal only if he is open to lowering his wage demands.
It is unclear if Luiz will compromise on either his wages or the length of his contract. That could prove to be a huge stumbling block in the next few days and Arsenal could well decide to let him leave as a result.
