Report explains Danny Rose’s absence for Tottenham clash; defender expected to miss next two games

Danny Rose was not involved for Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League clash on Tuesday night.

According to a report from Football London, Danny Rose was left out of the Tottenham squad for their Premier League clash with Swansea City on Tuesday due to the left-back feeling some discomfort in the knee that had kept him sidelined for 10 months last year.

Rose had featured fairly regularly following his return to action back in October and played the full 90 minutes as Spurs rounded off 2017 with an emphatic 5-2 victory over Southampton at Wembley on Boxing Day.

However, he was absent for the clash at the Liberty Stadium tonight, with Football London reporting that he had been having issues with his knee and is set to undergo tests on the problem.

Football London adds that Rose is now set to miss Thursday’s game with West Ham in the Premier League and their FA Cup third round clash with AFC Wimbledon on Sunday – though the report does not suggest whether he is likely to be available for the fixture with Everton towards the end of next week.

It is something of a blow for Mauricio Pochettino to seemingly not have Rose back in the ranks for the next two games as the 27-year-old has been impressive when he has been fit this season.

And while Pochettino would surely normally have confidence in Ben Davies to fill the void for a handful of games, the fact that Spurs will have played three games in six days by the end of the week may tempt the Tottenham boss to rotate what options he has available.
