Roma are set to hold talks with Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard next week with Juventus also big fans of the Premier League powerhouse, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.
Not so long ago, the Saints were flying high at the top of the table with their 6ft 6ins centre-back earning comparisons with a certain Virgil van Dijk.
Now, heading into May, Southampton’s season has collapsed quicker than an Andrea Agnelli masterplan, with Vestergaard’s future at St Mary’s suddenly uncertain.
Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked in recent weeks.
Ahough, with the Mirror reporting that Jose Mourinho was the driving force behind Spurs’ interest, it remains to be seen what his sudden sacking means for Vestergaard’s potential move to North London.

The former Borussia Monchengladbach man has plenty of other offers on the table, of course.
TMW reports that Roma director Tiago Pinto is set to hold talks with Vestergaard’s representatives next week. Reigning Serie A champions Juventus could also make an approach of their own.
But, with Southampton expected to demand a fee in excess of £18 million, cash-strapped Juve may be forced to sell before they can buy.
Either way, with a promising campaign crumbling into dust, what motivation is there, really, for Vestergaard to stick around if the likes of Roma and Juventus come calling?
