Spurs youngster Ruben Lameiras is to undergo a trial in Sweden.
Tottenham Hotspur under-21 star Ruben Lameiras is on the verge of leaving the club on loan, having agreed to take a trial with another European side.
Swedish club Åtvidabergs FF confirmed on their website that the 20-year-old had agreed to fly out to Sweden, with a view to a potential loan deal.
They announced: “Ruben Lameiras should try it with us for a few days, which hopefully leads us to borrow him for six months. Ruben is a midfielder who can play both centrally and on the wings.”
Lameiras hails from Portugal and has made six appearances for the under-21 side this season, but this is on course to be less than the 16 he made in 2013/14.
Åtvidabergs claim the youngster had been set to move to Holland on loan during the transfer window but a deal stalled.
With it unlikely any first team chances will be coming at Spurs this season, if Lameiras can get some action in the Swedish top flight it will be a good move in terms of his development.
He began his career at Championship side Millwall but was released before signing with Tottenham. After winning a penalty in a win over Arsenal’s youth side last season, academy manager John McDermott told the Tottenham Journal of Lameiras: “He’s always been quite small and he’s just growing into his body now. He’s always had quite a lot of creativity with his left foot, and I was really pleased for him, I thought his performance was stand-out.”
