Tottenham Hotspur have won the race for Temidire Emmanuel Okuwa.
According to All Nigeria Soccer, ex-West Ham United talent Temidire Emmanuel Okuwa has snubbed Chelsea to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Okuwa, 14, ended his time with West Ham at the end of last season, but has seemingly been looking to find a new club in London.
The defender went on trial with Chelsea and Tottenham, but has now picked a move to Spurs, with All Nigeria Soccer carrying a photo of Okuwa signing his contract with the club.
It’s claimed that Okuwa has decided to choose Spurs over Chelsea because he thinks the pathway to first-team football from the academy is better at Tottenham.
That’s another major compliment to Mauricio Pochettino’s work at Spurs, as he has created an environment where young players can make the step up, and that’s being noticed by other talents.
Harry Kane and Harry Winks are just two players to have made the step up, and Japhet Tanganga, Oliver Skipp and Troy Parrott should soon follow suit on a regular basis.
At 14, it’s hard to really predict much for Okuwa, but West Ham will be frustrated to see him leave the club for one of their bitter rivals in Spurs.
Meanwhile, Spurs can be proud of themselves for presenting themselves in a way to ensure Okuwa picked them over Chelsea, and he may be a name to follow in the coming years.
