Frank McParland could make a swift return to football having left Rangers.

According to The Sun, Nottingham Forest are keen to land Frank McParland following his exit from Rangers – but will wait to decide over a move for Mark Warburton.

In a dramatic Friday evening at Ibrox, Rangers announced that manager Warburton, recruitment chief McParland and assistant boss David Weir had all resigned from their posts in a shock triple exit.

Warburton claimed to have no idea what Rangers were talking about, but the Daily Record shed light on the story by suggesting that an agent worked on behalf of all three to try and get them moves elsewhere, with trio resigning if they could find another club.

That club was believed to be Nottingham Forest, but when a deal fell through, Rangers refused to take them back, and all three are now without employment after acrimonious departures from Ibrox.

Now, The Sun report that Forest are keen to make McParland their new director of football, with owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi keen to overhaul the club’s backroom setup, and McParland has been recommended to the club.

McParland, formerly of Liverpool, is believed to want a return to England, and Forest can offer him that now he’s free to move on after his Rangers departure.

The report adds that Forest will wait to decide whether to bring Warburton in with him, with Fulham’s Slavisa Jokanovic believed to be another manager on Al-Hasawi’s wish list for the end of the season, having appointed Gary Brazil and Jack Lester until the end of the campaign following Philippe Montanier’s exit.

McParland and Warburton worked together at Brentford and Rangers, meaning any move to the City Ground for transfer guru McParland would hint at interest in Warburton, who may end up back in the Championship next season.
