Southampton’s decision to part with Mark Hughes appears to have alerted the former West Ham United and Leicester City managers.

The former West Ham United manager David Moyes is open to talks about the vacant Southampton position, along with two recent Leicester City bosses – according to Sky Sports.
The broadcaster claims (December 3rd liveblog, 10:19 and 10:59) that Moyes, Nigel Pearson and Craig Shakespeare are all keen on succeeding Mark Hughes, who was sacked on Monday morning.
Moyes left West Ham at the end of last season, despite having steered the Hammers to 13th place from a position to the one in which Southampton currently find themselves, at the foot of the Premier League table.
Pearson is currently managing Leicester’s sister club, Oud-Heverlee Leuven, in Belgium’s second tier, while Shakespeare remains out of work more than a year after parting with the Foxes, who turned to the former Saints boss, Claude Puel, instead.

As well as West Ham, Moyes’ CV includes spells at Sunderland, Real Sociedad, Manchester United, Everton and Preston North End.
Pearson led Southampton Championship survival in a previous spell at St Mary’s, but left for Leicester after his contract was not renewed.

The 55-year-old achieved two promotions with the Foxes, either side of a spell in charge of Hull City. He was assisted, incidentally, by Shakespeare at each of the two clubs.
Would the former West Ham and Leicester managers be good fits for Southampton?
