According to the Daily Mail, Burnley are yet to offer a new deal to winger Aaron Lennon ahead of his deal expiring this summer.
It’s claimed that boss Sean Dyche is angry with the Burnley hierarchy for allowing contracts to run down, with no talks planned for a host of players.
Lennon is one of them, alongside Adam Legzdins, Joe Hart, Phil Bardsley and Jeff Hendrick. All five are set to leave the club this summer as things stand.
Lennon’s potential availability will spark suggestions of a move back to Leeds. The 33-year-old was born in Leeds and came up through the ranks with the Whites before joining Spurs in 2005.
In February 2019, The Sun claimed that Marcelo Bielsa was keen to bring Lennon back to Elland Road, but the Whites ended up signing Helder Costa instead.
Now, Lennon can be landed for free. With Leeds potentially heading to the Premier League, a return to the Whites may appeal to the winger – but the chance may have passed.

Lennon’s age may count against him, and he has only made four league starts this season. In 19 total appearances for Burnley this term, he has yet to register a goal or assist.
He could bring Premier League experience to the Leeds side, and a natural right-sided option for Bielsa to consider in terms of competition for Costa.
Yet if Leeds go up, they won’t want to succumb to sentimentality. Lennon’s return would be emotional for many, including the former England ace himself, but his lack of match action and advancing years may just mean there are better options out there.
